The Amway Center, located on 400 West Church Street in Orlando, Florida, is a prominent sports and entertainment venue. It opened to the public on October 1, 2010, after a $480 million ($559 million in 2018) development expenditure. Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer was present during the ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 29, 2010. In this ceremony, he delivered his first-ever Annual Downtown Address.
Vicente Fernandez and Edith Marquez performed the first-ever concert in the Amway Center on October 8. Lady Gaga, Shakira, Lil Wayne, Taylor Swift, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, and Ricky Martin were among the artists who performed at this arena. The Center also hosted the NBA All-Star Game in 2012, which was a great distinction for the venue.
Editing your way to approval
Before the approval of Downtown Master Plan 3, the Orlando Magic’s ownership, led by billionaire Amway founder Richard DeVos and his son-in-law Bob Vander Weide, had been lobbying the city for nearly 10 years for a new arena. Amway Arena was created in 1989, before the technologically advanced era of entertainment arenas.
General Information & Rules for the Amway Center
Following the Amway Center guidelines ensures that you and everyone else are always safe. Certain things, including illegal narcotics, weapons of any kind, and pyrotechnics, are prohibited from being brought into any Amway Center event. Non-flash, still cameras with a detachable lens are permitted to be used during athletic events, according to the camera policy. The policy for other events is determined on an event-by-event basis.
